My Story

Music has always been a part of my life.

I believe I was passed the musical gene from my great-great grandmother, whom was able to pick up and play just about any instrument. I began my musical journey in grade school as a violinist. I played throughout middle and high school orchestras/bands until my college years.

I began devoting time to private lessons at an early age. I had several instructors and private tutors, learning various styles of music and technique. I have also been in several marching bands as a percussionist and trumpet player.

I have studied the Suzuki method for violin since 2001.  Since then I have been playing shows, wedding receptions, marriage proposals, dinner parties, art galleries, as well as participating in community orchestras in the cities of Wilmington and Greenville, NC.

In addition to violin, I had begun mastering my skills in trumpet, vocal performance, piano, percussion, and select folk instruments.

I then auditioned and was accepted into East Carolina University’s music program in 2013.  I studied theory and composition under Dr. Britton Thuerer, while receiving private lessons from master violinist, Hye-Jin Kim, Ph.D.

Also, participated in the ECU Mens Choir conducted by Choral Director Andrew Crane, Ph.D, while also studying piano performance from Dr. John O’Brien.

While at East Carolina I participated in the Zamba-Yawar program where I mastered folk rhythms and instruments from Central and South American countries including, but not limited to: Charrango, Bongos, and Flamenco-Style Guitar.

My main focus however is classical guitar. I have studied under world-renowned classical guitarist Elliot Frank, Ph.D at East Carolina University, and have recently relocated to finish my Bachelors in music education and classical guitar performance with Dr. Daniel Hull Ph.D at Coastal Carolina University. I plan to continue my course of studies to obtain my Masters in classical guitar performance.

Overall, I get the most enjoyment from life when I have an opportunity to share my gift and passion for music.  Knowing I can help someone find a state of happiness and enjoyment while playing music really touches my heart and soul.
